Ashiatsu Massage
ASHIATSU MASSAGE
Ashiatsu is a barefoot massage technique that uses the feet rather than the hands to deliver the massage. A deeply relaxing massage. “Ashi” means foot and “atsu” means pressure. It is a western version of an ancient form of bodywork with roots dating back thousands of years from cultures across Asia, India, Africa, and the Pacific Rim.
Chronic pain affects millions of Americans. The most requested service in today’s massage market is deep tissue massage. Ashiatsu is recognized as a specific deep tissue massage technique, and has shown benefits for persons suffering from:
- Chronic pain
- Limited mobility
- Repetitive strain injury
- Postural problems
- Fibromyalgia
WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE?
A Swedish style technique with deep compression and long flowing movements that glide over the body. Ashiatsu provides broad pressure, from light to deep, without discomfort.
Supportive bars are used overhead by the therapist for support & balance. The client relaxes comfortably on the massage table and with the assistance of gravity the therapist uses their body weight along with the bottom surface and heel of the foot to apply a deep relaxing treatment.
We also offer Sarga Bodywork, another Barefoot Massage technique
